The DDJ-1000 is the controller every working club DJ has used at some point — full Rekordbox license, club-style layout, MAGVEL crossfader, and four channels for when you want to layer or have two DJs back-to-back.
This is what we send when there’s a guest DJ on the booking and they ask “what controller is it?”. It’s the safe, expected answer.
When something else is better
- Your DJ works in Serato — the DDJ-1000 ships with the full Rekordbox licence and that’s the workflow it’s built around. If Serato is the requirement, the Pioneer DDJ-FLX10 covers both, and so does the DDJ-REV5.
- No laptop on the trip — this is a controller, not a standalone player. The Pioneer XDJ-RX3 plays straight off a USB stick or streams over WiFi, which is what you want if the “DJ” is whoever’s least drunk.
- Two DJs swapping laptops all night — the DDJ-FLX10 has dual USB-C so a handover doesn’t mean a gap in the music.
- Four channels is more than you’ll use — most villa nights are one person and a playlist. The DDJ-FLX6-GT has the same channel count in a 3.8kg USB-bus-powered box, and the DDJ-FLX4 is the honest answer below that.
