This is the controller we send when there’s a working DJ on the booking who’s used to a real club layout. If they walked in, hit two buttons and knew where everything was, this is the rig.
When something else is better
At this level the choice is less about quality and more about what the night actually needs:
- Nobody in the group is comfortable with a laptop — the FLX10 still needs a computer. The Pioneer XDJ-RX3 is standalone: USB stick in, 10.1-inch touchscreen, or stream over WiFi. Better choice for a host who wants a serious booth without a technical person on hand.
- Your DJ plays open-format or scratches — the Pioneer DDJ-REV7 has motorised 7-inch platters and the battle-mixer layout. Heavier at 18kg, but if the DJ asked for it by name, it’s what they meant.
- The budget doesn’t stretch and it’s a villa, not a club — the Pioneer DDJ-FLX6-GT gives you the same four channels for a good deal less. You give up XLR out, the mic inputs and dual USB-C, which for a battery-speaker setup you may never miss.
What to book with it
Put it on the Headliner Indio DJ booth rather than a garden table — at 6.7kg with an external PSU, this rig needs somewhere to live and somewhere for the cables to hide. Add Pioneer HDJ-X5 headphones if the DJ is travelling light.
