A mirror ball does nothing on its own — it has no light in it. It needs something narrow pointed at it. One fixture from the 4× LED PAR uplight set makes a perfectly good pin-spot, and you still have three left over to wash the walls. Every villa wedding photographer thanks us for this.

- Festoon string lights — the same warm, slightly nostalgic register. Festoon overhead plus a mirror ball over the floor is the whole look for a villa wedding, and between them they cost less than one moving-head pair.
- UV blacklight bar — if the night is a theme night rather than a wedding. Both are cheap, both are more about the idea than the wattage.
- Stairville MH-100 moving heads — if you want the retro moment early and club lighting later. They do different jobs at different hours; there’s no need to choose.
When to skip it
- Outdoors with nothing overhead — the motor hangs from a hook or a beam. A pergola, a doorway or an interior ceiling works; open lawn does not.
- You want the room actually lit — this is decoration, not illumination. Book LED PARs or moving heads for that and treat the ball as the finishing touch.
