If a battery speaker is the first thing you rent for a villa party, festoon lights are the second — and per euro, they do more for the look of the evening than anything except the speaker itself.
50 metres of warm-white globe bulbs strung across a terrace, zig-zagged over a pool, or run along a garden wall turns “outdoor dinner” into “this is the night.” It’s the single most-photographed, least-technical upgrade in the catalog.
Why this over the LED PARs?
Different jobs:
- 4× LED PAR set (€95/day) = punchy colour washing walls — club / party energy, magenta and cyan.
- Festoon (€45/day) = soft warm-white ambient overhead — wedding / dinner / elegant energy.
Most villa parties want both: festoon overhead for the whole evening’s warmth, LED PARs for the dance-floor moment later. They’re additive, not either/or.
Self-hang, not plug-and-play (the honest bit)
Unlike a speaker you switch on, festoon you have to hang — across a pergola, between two trees, along a railing. It comes with carabiners + S-hooks + a guide, and a 50m run over a typical terrace takes 20-30 minutes for two people. No tools, no electrician — but it’s not instant like our speakers. Budget the time.
For most Croatian villas the pergola, olive trees, or terrace railings are the natural anchor points. Tell us your setup at booking and we’ll advise on whether 50m is enough or you want two runs.
When this is the right call
- Villa weddings + milestone birthdays (the warm overhead glow is the whole aesthetic)
- Garden / terrace dinners that roll into a party
- Beach setups with structures to hang from (rare — usually villa/garden)
What people book with it
- 30cm mirror ball — the natural partner. Festoon lights the terrace warm; the ball gives the dance floor its one moment. Same nostalgic register, and the battery motor means no second cable run.
- 4× battery wireless uplighters — if the anchor points are far from a socket, or if you want the walls and olive trees coloured as well as the terrace lit. IP54-rated, so the same rain that the festoon shrugs off is fine for these too.
- EcoFlow Delta 2 power station — the 50m run terminates in a standard mains plug, which is a problem in a garden with no outdoor socket. This solves it silently.
When to skip
- Yacht — nowhere safe to hang 50m of cable on a moving boat.
- You want colour / movement — that’s the LED PARs or moving heads, not festoon.
