What to know
- Don’t pair with epileptic guests obviously
- Heat dissipation is fine, runs all night without fading
- Mount high (over 2m) if possible — at eye level it’s actually too intense
What to put it with
A strobe in a clear room flashes the walls. A strobe in a hazy room flashes the air, which is the effect you’re picturing:
- Antari Z-1500 smoke machine — the standard pairing, and the one that makes the drop land. The compact Z-1000X MK3 does the same job in a smaller room.
- Antari Z-350 Fazer — if you’d rather set the haze once at the start of the night than refill and re-trigger a smoke machine.
When something else is better
At 6500K cool white, this is a one-trick fixture: it flashes, brilliantly, and does nothing else. It is an addition to a rig, not a rig.
- You have no other lighting yet — start with the 4× LED PAR uplight set for colour, then add the strobe.
- You want movement rather than flash — Stairville MH-100 moving heads sweep beams across a floor and run sound-active with no controller.
