You need something in the air
This is not an upsell, it’s how lasers work. A 230mW beam in clean air is a bright dot on the far wall and nothing in between. Put smoke or haze in the room and the same fixture fills it.

When to step up
The EL-230RGB does sweeping beams, fans and dot patterns. If what you actually want is shapes — a name, a heart, a birthday message on a wall — that’s the Cameo Wookie 200 animation laser, which carries 32 pre-programmed animations instead.
